The Bureau: XCOM Declassified

The Bureau: XCOM Declassified is a third person shooter game with strategy elements realized in the studio 2K Marin. It has been launched on 23 August 2013 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The game dares to step up from the classic turn-based that the XCOM has promoted so far in an excellent way and it combines the shooting with strategy elements in real time. This thing is realized by including a function called Battle Focus Mode that allow to slow time and control the skills of three soldiers in a strategic way - see best details.

The action of the game start in 1962, in the Cold War time. The game makes us William Carter, a CIA agent that has the mission to deliver a package of alien origin to the director of the new organization The Bureau of Operations and Command, known as XCOM.

Even though this organization has been created to prevent a Russian invasion in the United Stated, the director Myron Faulke has another enemy on his mind: The Outsiders, some aliens that gave signs that they would come on Earth, after XCOM has discovered that our planet has a strong chemical alien element called Elerium.

And this is how all crazy stuff start. Carter is attacked by a person from the organization, and the package activates and starts a giant alien invasion, an event that destroys a bunch of military bases, interrupts the telecommunication lines and add aliens on our planet. Starting from this point, Carter will have to do everything in his power to stop this giant invasion - check out the tutorial.

This is the way, you, the player will start to learn the way to fight aliens. The whole campaign will take place in three, that means the main character and two other characters that you will be choosing from a list before every mission. Every character belongs to a certain class – Commando, Engineer Support or Recon - click to play.

The alien fights take place in real time like in every other third person shooter game, yet if you press a certain button the game starts the Battle Focus Mode, a game option to view the surroundings in slow motion that turns the fight in something more than the regular shooting games. In Battle Focus mode the camera is not stick anymore to Carter, and all the three XCOM members have next to their name certain skills that can be executed if the player wants.

So, to sum up my little article, The Bureau XCOM Declassified is a game that it’s worthy to be performed because it’s indeed more special than regular shooting game. Try it and you will see for yourself!
